- « This set contains recordings from Japan, China, Java, Bali, Siam (Thailand), India, Persia (Iran), Egypt and Tunis and was compiled by Erich von Hornbostel in 1931 from his collection of wax cylinders brought back from the orient by travelers interested in recording indigenous music. These were originally released in Europe on the Odeon and Parlophone label and this group of Decca records was released in the U.S. about 1939. »
